Hi, I’m Heather!
The lady behind the paintbrush or pen, depends on the day.
From a young age, I’ve had a love for art and design which has grown and flourished in many ways throughout my life. My design career began in landscape architecture where I pursued calligraphy in my free time. In 2009 I opened Design Roots, offering calligraphy services and teaching highly sought-after calligraphy classes in the Dallas area while growing my family. Over the years, Design Roots evolved into a boutique exterior design and home furnishings business until ultimately, I decided to return to my artistic roots.
Now, we’re here, the time where I’m just Heather, spending my days painting and drawing on any and everything - walls, art, envelopes, even basketballs! (Check out that project here).
I am passionate about creating joy through playful art.
Bringing joy to others as an artist and designer makes my heart happy and I hope to help you find a bit of happiness too.

I’ve been an artist my entire life, but my love of painting patterns on the walls began in 2018. I wanted wallpaper in our home, but like most of the homes in the South, we had textured walls.
My hubby said “no” and I replied in true artist fashion…
“okay, I’ll paint it myself”.
After running out of walls to paint in our home, I started painting for others and fell in love with the warmth and connection my art created for other families inside their homes. It brings me such joy that my art can create a happier space - all it takes it a bit of paint.
